Sydney Boutique Markets, Rouse Hill Town Centre

Rouse yourself and come down to the Sydney Boutique Markets at Rouse Hill.

Rouse Hill is a friendly suburb that caters to a wide range of communities and families: perhaps the most noticeable asset being Rouse Hill Town Centre. The isolation of the suburb has its perks and drawbacks; the cost of privacy and tranquillity being a further distance from the CBD and having to rely on private transportation to travel. While there are buses available locals advise getting familiar with the timetables as they might be a bit tricky if you are a newcomer.

Rouse Hill Town Centre is a well-planned community-like shopping centre with open spaces and play areas for children. There is ample and convenient parking that offers 3 hours of free parking and is made more convenient and hassle-free with Ticketless Parking. Rouse Hill Town Centre also hosts a market every first Sunday of the month and showcases retailers from all over Sydney.

Amenities

Main Street is blocked off to allow for a whole street of stalls that customers can meander down, taking in all the different sights. While there are many different varieties of stalls, there are also other amenities for the whole family. Everyone can enjoy the live music entertainment located in the centre of the street, there are amusement rides and face painting available for the children to enjoy, and there is fairy floss that brings a somewhat carnival atmosphere to the market. Face painting was provided by Funny Fantasy Entertainment who you can also hire for your own party. They do face painting, balloon twisting, cupcake parties, and arts and craft parties for an original and exciting event.

Stalls
The stalls range from artworks, décor, clothes, homemade soaps, and other services. While there are retailers from all over Sydney, there are also locally based boutiques or artists who you can support.

Fame-ily Art showcases wooden boards, custom cake toppers and other forms of décor that brings a homey, personal touch to your home or events such as birthday parties, weddings, or engagement parties. They use a wide variety of materials, fonts, and woods and collaborate with their customers to provide the perfect addition to their home or a personalised gift for a loved one.

Danielle Alderson is another local artist who uses resin to bring colour and style to the world. She creates beautiful trays, boards, bowls, and pendants that are all unique in design and it is not difficult to find the perfect gift for a friend or family member and they would make a great addition to any home. She also offers resin classes if you would like to learn how to make your own artwork!

There were a few patisserie and bakery stores but the one that caught my eye was Gracious Honey. While they are located in Pyrmont, they came to the markets to show off their beautiful goods; I’m sure they all tasted heavenly, but I gravitated towards their doughnuts, beautifully presented and with unique flavours such as lemon meringue doughnuts. They also create amazing cakes and offer catering for your special events.

Pros and Cons

Not all of the stalls offer EFTPOS services but there are ATMs throughout the centre you can withdraw cash from.

While there were a few bakeries offering delicious looking pastries, there was only one gozleme food stall; however, as there are many fast food restaurants, restaurants and cafes throughout the centre, there is no shortage of options for food.

Overall Experience

I had a very enjoyable time at the Sydney Boutique Markets and will definitely continue to visit throughout the coming months. It’s great to have a local market that brings retailers from all over and provide quality and personal goods at very reasonable prices. I would recommend planning to spend at least half a day there: the kids will be entertained by the amusement rides and adults can take their time strolling through the stalls, sit back and relax to the soothing vocals of the live entertainment, and even fit in brunch at one of the cafes, such as Blends and Brothers, around Rouse Hill Town Centre.
