Friendly service and quality food in the centre of Castle Towers.
Situated inside the bustling Castle Towers, the second branch of The Dining & Co was a great cafe to visit with friends to catch up over amazing food and drinks. The cafe is open for longer hours than other cafes so there is no need to rush for a nice coffee or meal after school or uni!
The Dining & Co didn’t feel like the usual chaotic cafes that are placed in between shopping centre floors but its own little getaway cafe. There was natural lighting from the shopping centre ceiling illuminating the cafe which sported tasteful rustic decor. Despite the completely packed out cafe, neither my friend or I had to shout or raise our voice to speak to one another.
We waited at the cafe for around 5 minutes and were seated by the extremely friendly staff on the side couches. The menus were given to us and we quickly chose what we wanted for lunch. We decided to have the Spanner Crab Pasta and the Breakfast Board with an iced long black and lemon-lime bitter.
The squid ink pasta was amazing! I’ve never tried chilli pasta and this was honestly a great surprise. I couldn’t stop eating it and actually forgot to ask my friend if he wanted to try some! Not only does this dish look visually pleasing it is fantastic. I definitely recommend this dish for those who love spicy food.
The breakfast board ironically wasn’t on a wooden board but nonetheless was really well balanced. My friend loved his breakfast board and stated that their portions were really generous and was shocked to actually have avocado left over. By the end of our meal, we were both super satisfied and pleased with our time at the cafe.
Pros and Cons
The food and coffee are great! This cafe uses Campos beans and you can tell they really pride themselves with their coffee by the quality of the drinks. I honestly thought I’ve had my fair share of cafe breakfast menus but the pasta here has definitely expanded my understanding of what cafe food is: top notch! They also have a wide range of vegetarian and gluten-free options.
I had no complaints with The Dining and Co. but the prices were slightly higher than other suburban cafes. However, the quality of the food justified the prices. You need to order and pay at the counter and there is a 0.5% surcharge for Paypass and credit cards.
I really liked this cafe and would come to visit again. The staff were friendly and the food was both delectable and Instagram worthy. The head chef, Justin Park, of The Dining and Co was previously the head chef and owner of the Big Tree House Cafe which I regularly visited. He is also the Ex-Executive chef at the Quay. When I heard he opened The Dining & Co, first in North Ryde then another at Castle Towers, I was really excited to try out his menu. I was definitely not disappointed!
