Fly in and set up your nest in this cosy café.
Nestled amongst the shops in Dural Mall, and around the corner from Cod’s gift, is The Wren. The café itself was quite small but there is seating both inside and outside. The interior is cosy and tranquil with its blue walls. I took a seat outside as it was full inside and a soft-spoken and friendly server came out to take my order.
I ordered the pancakes with the spiced ricotta and it was presented simply with some fruits and a small flower. As I bit into the pancakes, I was thoroughly impressed. It was fluffy and perfectly cooked throughout the whole thick pancake. It had a very simple but pleasant taste and paired well with the spiced ricotta, spiced berries, and lemon-apple syrup. The flavours were not overwhelmingly sweet, but a tartness cut through the berries and added a nice kick. There was a perfect amount of fruits and ricotta to pancake and alongside the perfect cappuccino, I was satisfied and full.
Pros and Cons
The food and coffee were delightful, and I am keen to return for an affordable, delicious brunch. There is plenty of parking spaces available, however, the café can get filled quickly during peak breakfast and lunch times. A family had to resign getting take away much to the dismay of the little boy as there were no tables available.
Although I did enjoy sitting outside with the soft breeze blowing, it got very hot very quickly as the sun came up and it beamed straight down on me. I might recommend trying to grab an inside table if you are planning to come for brunch.
I had a great experience at The Wren and it’s nice to know that there is a cute, affordable café that serves delicious food and coffee. It seemed like a local favourite for friends to catch up and for individuals who wanted a space to do some work. I am looking forward to returning and trying out their other dishes.
